It is full of excellent information and how to instructions to get your practice to #1 on google, how to get in the door with physicians and other referring health care practitioners and how to get patients to refer their friends family and co-workers. This book teaches you specific strategies to use to market you practice using the internet and personal connections with out asking for a handout. The tactics in this book have worked for me and I highly recommend it.

The Must have marketing book for private practice owners!!!

I got this book at a conference that Nitin was giving to help private practice owners supercharge their business. After listening to his first lecture I wanted to learn more about him his methods so I purchased this book.

As physical therapists, we are raised in a culture in which self-promotion is considered to be in bad taste. Most private practice owners cringe every time they need to advertise. Personally, I recognize the need to make people aware of my presence in the community. I know that unless I tell people who I am, what I do and how to get in touch with me, they will not know I exist. I think our entire community must recognize that and fix it.

When I bought Nitin's book, I had little if any expectations and was hoping it would give me one or two nuggets of useful information. I was pleasantly surprised. As a flipped through the chapters and started making notes about all the strategies Nitin revealed, I felt as if Nitin wrote the book just for me. This book gives you the precise 'how tos' and the 'whys' of marketing your practice and growing it - it's truely a no nonsense book. It's easy to read, contains practical information on topics as diverse as patient retention, customer service marketing to physicians, website optimization, community recognition and most importantly mindset.

Nitin, you deserve a big round of applause from the entire physical therapy community for a book that tells it like it is, with nothing held back. I'm already following you on your blog, and am glad you provide honest, sincere and credible business and marketing advice. Keep up the good work.

This Changed My Business View Completely!

I pride myself in being organized and focused when it comes to work. I know what I want and I thought I knew how to get there. But after reading Nitin's book on how to grow my practice, I realized that there are some significant gaps in my knowledge of how to grow any practice in these economic times. Too many rely on existing patients referrals without actively conditioning them. I was one to think that since many come back to visit that they were also referring it to others. Boy I was wrong!

From the first chapter alone, I had a few shocking revelations why my private practice as a physical therapist is growing slower than I expected. Again, I do not condition my existing patients to let others know how awesome their experience was in my clinic. I had rapport with most of my patients and some have grown closer than being just my patients but I failed to take advantage of this relationship. As Nitin pointed out, my staff and I should get involved in the referral conditioning process. My initial reaction was to reject this concept because it seemed like over selling which most are uncomfortable with. Nitin however convinced me otherwise as he gave detailed recommendations on how to do it without the anxiety that comes from being perceived as a used car salesman.

Nitin also hit the nail right on the head when it comes to asking physicians for referrals. Using the old-fashioned approaches simply no longer cut it these days. There are even physicians out there that make physical therapists feel insignifcant after each encounter. I did not know there is another approach until I read Nitin's book.

Nitin's book is a load mine of information and specific strategies. It does not discuss topics in a general sense but gives explicit action plans on how to accomplish the ultimate goal of every private practitioner -- HOW TO GROW YOUR PRACTICE in a no nonsense way.

I highly recommend this book to all private practitioners -- not only to physical therapists but anyone who runs any kind of service based business. The author did not just discuss the problems we are facing hypothetically but he's been there and did it.

I look forward to the next volume of this book.

This is a useful collection of stories of an influential business coach

On my recent trip to India, picked up this book on Professor CK Prahalad. Few management thinkers get written up as subjects of books themselves. This is a useful collection of stories of an influential business coach.

Those of us in the business of management consulting and education will find this useful material on a hugely respected, influencial management thinker.

CK is best known for his pioneering writing on Core Competence, Bottom of Pyramid & Customer Co-creation. From reading the book, I picked up that his work on ‘Next Practices’ (as against best practices), Strategic Intent, Dominant Logic, Innovation as equally compelling contributions.

A few notes on CK I made as I read the book:

- Ability to abstract very complex ideas by using easy to understand frameworks. A teacher at heart; his obsession for communicating the powerful ideas was as important to him as the idea itself.

- His methodology was to flesh out his thoughts into journal papers, and then developing the papers into books (from the book I couldn’t figure how his consulting figured into this methodology – what came first, the consulting assignments or the books or as I suspect both emerged simultaneously)

- Believed in writing daily as a habit. The regularity of writing, even if the ideas were half baked was important to him

- Tremendous work ethic. Ability to work very long hours tirelessly

- He picked up moral courage to stand up for what he believed in, early on from early mentors. A proud man, fiercely protective of his beliefs, intensely upright with stubborn conviction in what he believed was right, a devoted family man

- Passionate about working with India. Called India as an emerging world power early, a proud Indian at heart. Thought of India’s challenge as having to remind itself of its past greatness, saw it as a ‘re-emergence’.

- What I wasn’t aware of before reading the book was that he conducted a series of annual lectures for Indian business leaders all through the decade 2000-2009. And was an influencial force behind the development of India’s IT service firms

- The last chapter is his speech on “Vision@75” for India is a good read in itself. Demonstrates his power of ‘framing’ a concept, his attention to detail on governance. India leaders would do well to re-read this speech now. It does what effective management writing does best – draws up a mental map for a problem and how to address it.

I’d have liked to learn more about the consulting work he did for the dozen or so companies he was known to be most closely associated with. Understandable that its not easy material to cover, as he was a CEO and board advisor ; still I felt wanting to hear from the business leaders he coached closely (beyond audiences in speeches) on his stance as a management consultant. How he framed his consulting assignments and conducted them, observations on his consulting stance from clients and colleagues would have made it a more complete book for me.

Brilliant Book Layout for Successful Study Habits

This was a required text book for a college class, & the mere size of the book is quite daunting! But if you intend to utilize Employee Benefits in your life/job I suggest buying a new copy so you can highlight, put sticky notes, flag pages, etc...everything is informational, necessary & very easy to understand. Each chapter gives a list of key words, a chapter outline, chapter objectives & key study questions at the end of the chapter so you can review what you have read to test your own comprehension & then strengthen your weak points before taking the info into the classroom! I found this format BRILLIANT & contribute my "A" grade in the class to the study guides in the book. (And since personally I did not find the subject matter engaging, the ease of the outline of the book made studying much more efficient.) Be aware...there is a LOT of info to absorb! Don't wait to do your reading!

Very good, the best strategys in a clear form. Each one os us need diferent ways to internalize modifications we pretend to make. Maybe we can have read some of those thecnics but Wouter write very clear and easy. It was for me atonish to read a writer from Sout Africa and enjoy so much. Diferent enviroments can create diferent visions and forms of expressions this one is grate for me. I am reading for the third time and will read many more, is on my preference reading books for my transformation.

Ali A. Mazrui is Albert Schweitzer Professor in the Humanities and Director of the Institute of Global Cultural Studies at Binghamton University, USA. He is also Albert Luthuli Professor-at-Large at the University of Jos, Nigeria, and Andrew D. White Professor-at-Large Emeritus and Senior Scholar in Africana Studies at Cornell University. He formerly served as Chancellor of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Nairobi, Kenya - an appointment made by Kenya's Head of State. He has also served as Special Advisor to the World Bank, as President of the Association of Muslim Social Scientists of North America (2007-2011) and in many other distinguished positions. He has published more than thirty books and several hundred journal articles.Ramzi Badran is Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Global Cultural Studies. He received his PhD in Political Science from Binghamton University, USA. Dr. Badran is a former Fulbright scholar in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, and has taught and co-taught at Johns Hopkins University, Binghamton University and Cornell University. His current research explores modernization processes in the least developed countries as well as the effect of international agreements on state behavior.Seifudein Adem is Associate Research Professor of Political Science and Associate Director of the Institute of Global Cultural Studies at Binghamton University, USA. Well. I certainly wasn't expecting THAT. "That" being the emotional jolt I felt reading the sinfully stimulating sex scenes between these three distinctly drawn men. What in the world did I just read?! I'm humming with emotion myself. Questioning society's traditional definition of a "relationship," and cheering the realization that love comes in so many forms and all are to be cherished.

By the end of this book, Gray, Jack, and Mason felt like a cohesive triplet (is that the right descriptor?). I just felt like the addition of Mason to the already established relationship between Jack and Gray was the right, organic thing to do. The each brought something special to the other two, making the relationship complete. I can't imagine any of these guys stepping out on the others because they are so right together.

And "thanks" to the author for keeping it real--these are "men" after all, so OF COURSE they all had trouble sharing their "feelings" with each other. Such a "guy" thing to do, isn't it? I heard an explanation of the M/F dynamic one time that has stuck with me:

A woman says "If I didn't love you, I wouldn't tell you that I loved you." A man says, "If I didn't love you, I wouldn't BE WITH YOU."

A man expects his actions to speak louder than his words. Just like Gray, Jack, and Mason.

I read the blurb and bought this, expecting a titillating tale. I wasn't prepared to get as emotionally invested as I had.

Mason is a college drop-out working as assistant manager/bartender in a bar in Durham, NC. He said goodbye to his Duke tuition and expenses when he defied his parents wishes regarding his future a few years prior. Oddly, his parents felt this "gay thing" was a phase he'd outgrow--but they couldn't abide a child not accepting the career choices they made.

While working, Mason meets Jack and Gray--two beat officers who are investigating a string of robberies in Durham. Mason finds the duo sexy, but can't imagine these burly men are gay. Still, the officers come into the bar time and again, and the subtle cues they leave lead Mason to imagine more than a straight fantasy.

It soon becomes clear that Jack and Gray are interested in Mason--as a third. This doesn't work for Mason, however, because he's afraid of coming between them--emotionally, not physicially. He's dying to "come" between them. Bah-dum-dum.

Anywho, Jack and Gray manage to have their sexy way with Mason. There are light BDSM elements--bondage, spanking, orgasm denial--and the pair think this is a great deal. Mason freaks. He's getting too attached to his fantasy, and is sure the bottom will fall out and he'll crash hard.

There's a lot of angst, not the least of which surrounds the fact that Jack and Gray are closeted, despite living together. And, when Mason comes under fire in the robbery-ring, it's an eye-opener.

I really enjoyed this. The sex was...nuclear? Yep, probably that hot. The story was interesting and believable. Have a sexy cop fantasy? This menage delivers--times two.

Fitting In by Silvia Violet rocked my world. Two sexy cops, Gray and Jack could fulfill any man’s fantasy, but they have chosen bartender Mason as the object of their affection. Gray and Jack meet Mason at a local hang out and are immediately smitten with the young man. The feelings are definitely reciprocated by Mason as well.

Ms. Violet delivers a story of not only extremely scorching sex but one of insecurities, questioning and love. Gray and Jack are in a committed relationship, but are deep in the closet as two of the police forces finest. When they meet Mason, who is out and proud, the men question the ramifications of denying who they truly are in the public eye. The inner turmoil they face radiates through the pages as they ponder these questions. Ms. Violet’s characterization of Gray reduced me to tears as he tortured himself psychologically in the need to please both his lovers. Gray, the ever-present dominant in the trio must learn that sometimes one is dominant by actually letting go. Jack is the peace maker. I adored his demeanor, his sense of nurture and his whit.
Mason’s character was lovely and sweet, deep-rooted with angst as all his life he was told that being homosexual was only a passing thing by his family. Mason has had relationships in the past but all have failed as he never truly felt satisfied until he met Gray and Jack, thus leaving him with a foreboding sense of doom.

Silvia Violet delivers a pure and true connection between the three men and also a connection to the reader. Once I began to read I was not able to put the book down, as I was meshed into the lives of Gray, Jack, and Mason.

Fitting In is not only a story of three very hot men, but a story of growth and maturity. A story of learning to accept what is freely given to you and taking a chance on each other and love.

About the Author
Dr. Rachel E. Spector has been a student of culturally diverse health and illness beliefs and practices for over 40 years and has researched and taught courses on culture and healthcare for the same time span. Dr. Spector has had the opportunity to work in many different communities, including the American Indian and Hispanic communities in Boston, Massachusetts. Her studies have taken her to many places: most of the United States, Canada, and Mexico; several European countries, including Denmark, England, Greece, Finland, Iceland, Italy, France, Russia, Spain, and Switzerland; Cuba; Israel; Pakistan; and Australia and New Zealand. She was fortunate enough to collect traditional amulets and remedies from many of these diverse communities, visit shrines, and meet practitioners of traditional healthcare in several places. She was instrumental in the creation and presentation of the exhibit “Immigrant Health Traditions” at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum, May 1994 through January 1995. She has exhibited health-related objects in several other settings. Recently, she served as a Colaboradora Honorifica (Honorary Collaborator) in the University of Alicante in Alicante, Spain, and Tamaulipas, Mexico. In 2006, she was a Lady Davis Fellow in the Henrietta Zold-Hadassah Hebrew University School of Nursing in Jerusalem, Israel. This text was translated into Spanish by Maria Munoz and published in Madrid by Prentice Hall as Las Culturas de la SALUD in 2003 and into Chinese in 2010. There have been two International Editions of the book. She is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and a Scholar in the Transcultural Nursing Society. The American Nurses’ Association—Massachusetts, the state organization of the American Nurses’ Association, honored her as a “Living Legend” in 2007. In 2008, she received the Honorary Human Rights Award from the American Nurses Association. This award recognized her contributions and accomplishments that have been of national significance to human rights and have influenced healthcare and nursing practice.

Like the content but errors make it difficult to use

This book was sent by my school for me to review for use as a textbook. I found numerous errors that a copy editor should have found. One example, top of page 44, "In 2014, the official poverty rate was 14.8%, and 14.8 million people were in poverty." That should have been 46.7 million in poverty. Could go on. Like the content but errors make it difficult to use.
